Switzerland's Relationship to the EU

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vztahem Švýcarské konfederace k EU v období od 2. světové války do současnosti. V práci jsou analyzovány základní problémy bránící vstupu Švýcarska do EU, stejně tak jako možné varianty vztahů s EU a jejich podmínky a možné dopady. Cílem práce je doložit hypotézu, že aplikovaná bilaterální cesta je pro Švýcarsko nejvhodnější variantou vztahu s EU, jeho postavení jako nečlenského státu je ve vztahu s EU výjimečné a vstup do EU není pro zemi ve střednědobém horizontu aktuální.

Abstract:

The bachelor's dissertation deals with the relationship between the Swiss Confederation and the European Union, from the Second World War until the present. In this work, the main problems preventing the entry of Switzerland into the EU are analysed, as well as the possible variations of the relationship, their conditions and possible impacts. The aim of the work is to support the hypothesis that for Switzerland, the chosen bilateral way is the best alternative relationship with the EU, its position as a non-member state is, in relation to the EU, exceptional, and its entry into the EU is for the country irrelevant in the medium term.
