Abstract:

Anotace Bakalářská práce na téma „Vývoj urbanizace severovýchodní části Spojených Států“ se zabývá procesem urbanizace jak šel v čase na tomto konkrétním území Spojených států, zmiňující jen některé z hlavních rysů tohoto procesu, vynechávaje sociální stránku urbanizačního vývoje. První dvě kapitoly jsou zaměřeny na přiblížení popisovaného území z hlediska zeměpisného a historického. V nich popisuji klimatické a územní kvality daného regionu a stručně shrnuji historické události, které vedly k trvalému osídlení. V následující kapitole vyzvedávám vliv vývoje v dopravě na růst měst. Rostoucí počet obyvatel měst a rozšiřování městských hranic vedlo k neodkladné modernizaci hygienických regulí a později také k výstavbě parků a alejí. Těmto problémům jsou věnovány kapitoly čtyři a pět. Urbanizaci na začátku 20. století ovlivnily značnou měrou nové metody ve stavebnictví, které dovolovaly stavby výškových budov. Ty se později staly typickým rysem obchodu a podnikání. Toto visuální rozdělení měst na specifické části pokračovalo dál s příchodem decentralizace, což může být jednoduše označeno jako pohyb obyvatel v rámci jednoho města z jeho centrálních částí do okrajových. Všechny tyto vývojové urbanizační prvky vedly k podobě měst, kterou známe dnes. Jejich výsledek je popsán v kapitole osm. Mým cílem bylo zmapovat vývoj měst na severovýchodě USA. Změny, kterými prošly, v nejzákladnějších rysech, a které pak zapříčinily dnešní podobu tamních měst.

Abstract:

Annotation The thesis „The Development of Urbanization of the Northeast of the United States“ deals with the process of urbanization as it went in time in particular area, in this case the Northeast of the United States mentioning only the main features of this process but avoiding the social parts of this issue. In the first two chapters I focused on the area from a geographical and historical point of view introducing its climatic and landform qualities and briefly summarising the development of the first permanent settlement in this area. In the following chapters I am pointing out the importance of innovations in transport to the growing cities. Rising number of the city dwellers and pushing the city borders further stressed the urgent need for new sanitary regulations and green leisure city areas, both issues are discussed in chapters four and five. With the beginning of the 20th century came new methods in building allowing building high-rise buildings which became so typical for business parts of the city. Hand in hand with this city parts specialization comes a movement called the decentralization that can be simply described as a movement of people from a city centres to the city suburb areas. All these factors played their role in the urbanization process. Its results are described in chapter eight. My goal was to map the development of the cities in the Northeast area focusing on the basic factors that kept improving in time and gave us the cities we know today.
