Aim of this thesis is to analyse The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare in regard to carnal and moral aspects present in the play as well as to understand motivation hidden behind characters` actions. For correct analysis, it is crucial to understand the spirit and customs of the era as well as human psychology.
