Práce seznamuje s problematikou výzkumu v cestovním ruchu, shrnuje dosavadní poznatky a vývoj tohoto tématu. Zabývá se rovněž problematikou institucionálního, legislativního a finančního zabezpečení výzkumu v České republice (výzkumu obecně i konkrétně výzkumu v cestovním ruchu) a současnými problémy, se kterými se výzkum cestovního ruchu v České republice setkává.
