Nizar Qabbani and his influence on modern Arabic poetry

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je seznámit čtenáře se životem a dílem jednoho z nejvýznamnějších básníků 20. století. Nizar Qabbani je jedním z prvních básníků moderní poezie, který se zabývá problematikou žen a jejich postavení, obhajuje úsilí o emancipaci žen v tradičních arabských patriarchálních společnostech, a který dále projednává politickou situaci arabských zemí a odsuzuje jejich zaostalost, korupci, despotismus a neschopnost nastolit demokracii. Tento kontroverzní básník využívá svůj obrovský talent k boji proti ignoraci. Tato práce poskytne informace o nejdůležitějších událostech jeho života a poté analyzuje část jeho milostné a politické poezie. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí, kterými jsou autorova biografie a jeho dílo. Ve druhé části se práce zabývá analýzou jednotlivých básní a poskytuje jejich vysvětlení a možné významy. V závěru je zmíněn celkový vliv jeho poezie na celý arabský svět a jeho kontribuce v moderní arabské literatuře. Význam jeho díla spočívá v možnosti porozumět kultuře a umění arabské a islámské civilizace, která se snaží o zlepšení svého postavení v globálním aspektu a osvobodit se od tradicionalistické a patriarchální represe. To může pomoct při budování mostů mezi kultury a vybudovat porozumění mezi Východem a Západem.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to acquaint readers with the life and work of one of the most important poets of the 20th century. Nizar Qabbani is one of the first poets of modern poetry to address women's issues and their position, to advocate women's emancipation efforts in the traditional Arab patriarchal societies, to further discuss the political situation of Arab countries and to condemn their underdevelopment, corruption, despotism and inability to establish democracy. This controversial poet uses his enormous talent to fight ignorance. This work will provide information about the most important events of his biography and then analyze a part of his love and political poetry. The thesis is divided into two main parts, which are the author's biography and his work. In the second part, the thesis provides analysis of individual poems and provides their context and possible meanings. In conclusion, the overall influence of his poetry on the whole Arab world is mentioned and the contribution he made to modern Arab literature is stated. The contribution of his work lies in the possibility of understanding the culture and art of the Arabic and Islamic civilisation that seeks to improve its position in the global aspect and free itself from traditionalist and patriarchal repression. That will possibly and hopefully build bridges of understanding between East and West.
