Abstract:

Cílem této práce bude popis díla kanadské spisovatelky Alice Munro, především jejích povídek, které jsou úzce spřízněny s tradičními pohádkami. Pohádky byly vždy pro Alici Munro výrazným inspiračním zdrojem a silně ovlivnily její psaní. Obzvlášť důležité je přejímaní různých pohádkových „scriptů“, s nimiž si Alice Munro pohrává a variuje je. Jedním z nejčastěji používaných pohádkových „scriptů“ je „script modrovousovský“, který se obecně zabývá popisem nelehkých osudů mladé ženy, která se vydává do světa, čelí mnoha potížím a překážkám a musí vynaložit veškerou svou odvahu a důvtip, aby uspěla. Práce se pokusí vysvětlit, proč Munro věnuje tolik pozornosti právě tomuto „scriptu“, nakolik je jeho užívání vědomé a nakolik podprahové, jak s ním Munro pracuje a co je podstatou a cílem těchto obměn.

Abstract:

The main aim of the thesis will be the description of the work of the Canadian writer Alice Munro, particularly her short stories that are closely connected with traditional fairy tales. The fairy tales have become an important inspirational source for Munro and influenced her writing strongly. Especially significant has been the adopting of fairy tale scripts that Munro has varied and altered. One of the most frequent fairy tale scripts that has been used by Alice Munro is the Bluebeard script, describing generally the quest of a young woman who goes out into the world, is tempted and threaten by evil and must use courage and trickery to win. The thesis will try to explain why Munro has paid so much attention to that script, to what extent the use of the script has been deliberate or unconscious, how Munro has transformed it and what the intention of the variations has been.
