Factors that motivate FSE UJEP students to work while studying

Abstract:

V současné době se v České republice stává, že studenti se častěji rozhodují pracovat během svého studia. Studenti pracují o víkendech, také i během týdne například, po přednáškách nebo dokonce i v nočních hodinách. Tato volba závisí na mnoha faktorech a okolnostech. Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci faktorů, které motivují studenty na Fakultě sociálně ekonomické Univerzity Jana Evangelisty Purkyně, k práci během studia. Téma má významný praktický dopad, neboť pochopení těchto motivací může pomoci vysokým školám při navrhování účinných opatření a programů na podporu studentů. Současný stav poznání ukazuje, že nejčastějšími důvody, proč studenti pracují během studia, jsou finanční potřeby a získání praktických a sociálních zkušeností. Výsledky provedené analýzy svědčí o tom, že nejsilnějším motivačním faktorem pro studenty, kteří pracující během studia je finanční potřeba spojená s uspokojením fyzických potřeb, jako je jidlo, zatímco další finanční aspekty, jako je bydlení a vzdělávání, hrají významnou roli ve formování jejich pracovní motivace. V oblasti nefinančních faktorů dominuje potřeba nezávislosti, přičemž další faktory související se sociálními aspekty a profesionálním rozvojem také mají významný, avšak menší vliv. Studenti FSE projevují stejnou míru motivace pracovat během studia jak z finančních, tak z nefinančních faktorů. Na základě analýzy bylo zjištěno, že finanční a nefinanční faktory nevykazují významné rozdíly v motivaci studentů k práci v průběhu studia s ohledem na jejich studijní rok nebo obor. Hypotéza byla potvrzena: Studenti magisterského studia jsou k práci více motivováni nefinančními faktory než studenti bakalářského studia. Výsledky této práce přispějí k pochopení motivace studentů. Tato studie tak nabízí cenné informace pro studenty, kteří usilují o rovnováhu mezi prací a studiem, a pro fakultu FSE UJEP.

Abstract:

Currently, in the Czech Republic, it's becoming more common for students to choose to work during their studies. Students work on weekends, as well as during the week, for example, after lectures or even during nighttime hours. This choice depends on many factors and circumstances. The bachelor's thesis focuses on identifying the factors that motivate students at the Faculty of Social and Economic Studies of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University to work during their studies. This topic has significant practical impact, as understanding these motivations can help universities design effective measures and programs to support students. The current state of knowledge indicates that the most common reasons why students work during their studies are financial needs and the acquisition of practical and social experiences. The results of the analysis suggest that the strongest motivational factor for students working during their studies is the financial need related to the satisfaction of physical needs, such as food, while other financial aspects, such as housing and education, play a significant role in shaping their work motivation. In terms of non-financial factors, the need for independence dominates, with other factors related to social aspects and professional development also having a significant, but lesser impact. Students of the FSE show the same level of motivation to work during their studies from both financial and non-financial factors. Based on the analysis, it was found that financial and non-financial factors do not show significant differences in students' motivation to work during their studies with regard to their year of study or field of study. The hypothesis was confirmed: Master's degree students are more motivated by non-financial factors than bachelor's degree students. The results of this work contribute to the understanding of student motivation. Thus, this study offers valuable information for students striving for a balance between work and study, and for the FSE faculty of UJEP.
