Degradation of selected toxic substances applied on reactive sorbents studied using chromatographic and spectral methods

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá studiem degradace organofosfátů (parathion-methyl, trifenylfosfát, cyklofosfamid), pomocí reaktivních sorbentů na bázi nanokrystalických oxidů kovů. Pro stanovení vybraných toxických látek, jejich degradačních produktů a pro sledování kinetiky degradace byla použita vysokoúčinná kapalinová chromatografie (HPLC). Použité reaktivní sorbenty byly podrobeny detailní materiálové charakterizaci. U všech použitých sorbentů byla testována schopnost degradace na parathion-methylu. Nejúčinnější sorbenty byly využity i při dalším testování a prokázaly svou schopnost degradace s účinností kolem 50 % za dobu okolo 2 hodin. Na základě zjištěných údajů je možné použít nejúčinnější sorbenty (TiFeIn a MnO2) k degradaci organofosforečných pesticidů a zpomalovačů hoření. Velmi pravděpodobná je také možnost, že tyto materiály dokážou rozkládat strukturně podobné chemikálie, jakými jsou například organofosforečné bojové chemické látky.

Abstract:

This MSc. thesis focuses on the degradation of organophosphates, namely parathion-methyl, triphenyl-phosphate and cyclophosphamide. The degradation was carried on reactive sorbents based on nanocrystalic oxides of metals. High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) was selected for the analytical analysis of both the representative toxic compounds, the products of degradation processes as well as the study of kinetic degradation. The reactive sorbents were characterized thorough material study. The ability for degradation was tested on parathion-methyl for all sorbents. The most effective were further used for another experimental study. This sorbents reached the efficiency of 50 % in 2 hours. Base on the experimental results, the most efficient sorbents were found to be TiFeIn and MnO2 for degradation of organophosphate pesticides and fire retardants. It is possible that these sorbents are able to decompose the chemicals which have similar structure as organophosphate chemical warfare agents.
