Abstract:

Práce se věnuje filipínské islamistické teroristické organizaci Skupina Abú Sajáfa, zejména ve vztahu ke kriminální činnosti, která se pojí se jménem této organizace (finančně motivované únosy, pirátství atd.). Po vymezení použitých teoretických konceptů a stručném faktografickém seznámení se skupinou následuje analýza vnitřních i vnějších faktorů (včetně napojení na globální džihádismus), které v jednom, pět let trvajícím období vedly organizaci k příklonu ke kriminální činnosti na úkor činnosti teroristické. Zároveň zkoumám možnost aplikace existujících konceptů terorismu na organizaci, která má částečně kriminální, částečně teroristický charakter.

Abstract:

The thesis focuses on an Islamic terrorist organization from Philippines which is called The Abu Sayyaf Group, particularly in relation to its criminal activities (piracy, kidnap for ransom etc.). After defining theoretical concepts used in the thesis and a short factual introduction follows the analysis of both internal and external factors (including the group's connections with global jihad), which in certain five years long period contributed to a shift of the group's nature towards a nature of a criminal organization. Also, I examine the possibility of application of existing teoretical concepts of terrorism to a organization which has partly criminal, partly terrorist nature.
