The analysis of the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on young IT firms in Czech republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá vliv pandemie na dvě skupiny firem – start-upy a postarší firmy. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaký dopad měla pandemie Covid-19 na vybrané IT firmy v ČR. K ověření jsou použity data z let 2016–2020 získané z databáze Magnus Web. Vliv na firmy je sledován ve dvou modelech a na dvou endogenních proměných – Aktiva a Tržby. K věření hypotéz se využívají dummy proměnné, které simulují podmínku pandemie a start-upu. Významnou proměnnou je zpožděná endogenní proměnná, která pomáhá s vysvětlením modelu. Z výsledků získaných ekonometrickým modelem lze konstatovat, že vliv pandemie byl mírně negativní a vliv startupu byl mírně pozitivní. Proměnná kombinující start-up a pandemii měla vliv pouze na vysvětlovanou proměnnou aktiva, jelikož pro tržby byla proměnná nevýznamná. Výsledky pomohli pochopit situaci mladých firem a jejich pozici oproti postarším firmám

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examine effect of pandemics on two different group of firms – start- ups and older companies, The main purpose of the thesis is to find out what is the impact of the pandemics of Covid-19 on selected IT firms in Czech Republic. Data from database Magnus Web from year 2016 to year 2020 are used for verification. Impact on the firms is observed in two different models and on two endogenous variables – Assets and Sales. Dummy variables which simulate conditions of pandemics and start-up are used for verification of hypothesis. Lagged variable of endogenous variable crucial variable for this model as it helps a lot with interpretation of the model. We can submit from the results of the econometric model that the effect of pandemics is slightly negative and the effect of start-up is slightly positive. The variable which combinates start-up and pandemics effected only the endogenous varible Assets as it was found not significant for the Sales. The results helped us with understanding the current situation of young firms and their position againts older companies
