Cílem této diplomové práce je porovnat vývoj péče o děti, vznik prvních dětských domovů a jiných forem péče o nezaopatřené děti. Dále je cílem práce pochopit principy odnětí dětí z jejich rodin a jejich následné umístnění, ať už v institucionalizovaných zařízeních, nebo v pěstounské péči.
