V rámci EU dochází k úpravě environmentální politiky. Natura 2000 je jedním z projektů EU, který se zabývá touto problematikou. Natura 2000 na jedné straně znamená progresivnější přístupy k ochraně životního prostředí, na druhé straně se zde projevuje ignorace stávajících ochranářských modelů a v některých případech je zavádění těchto nových typů území hodnoceno jako nesystémové. Within the EU environmental policies have been revised. Natura 2000 is one of the EU projects, which deals with this issue. Natura 2000 on one hand approaches progressively to protecting the environment, on the other it often ignores the existing models and in some cases the introduction of these new types of areas is classified as non-systemic.
