Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá kontextové informace s ohledem na možnosti profilování a konkrétně pak použití získaných informací při re-identifikaci. Kontextová informace je vysoce popisná informace, která se váže k uživateli a popisuje jeho chování v rámci zkoumaného systému. Tento typ informací se hojně využívá např. v on-line systémech poskytující personalizovaný obsah (nebo systémy poskytující informace, které jsou svázány s tím, co uživatel např. vyhledával). Na druhé straně může být kontextová informace vnímána jako dobrý základ pro získávání citlivých informací o jedincích. Nutnost vyhodnocení dopadů na soukromí, které přímo vyplývají z toho, že zpracováváme kontextové informace, je jednou z hlavních částí disertační práce. Disertační práce se skládá z pěti částí. V úvodní části představujeme cíle práce, obecnou motivaci pro zpracování kontextové informace, důležitou terminologii a pojmy, které jsou dále v práci použity. V druhé kapitole se zabýváme kontextovými informacemi a jejich zpracováním, formálními definicemi čtyř termínů s ohledem na informační soukromí -- anonymita, pseudonymita, nespojitelnost a nesledovatelnost a v poslední části potom návrhem modelu PATS. Třetí kapitola je přehledová a představuje vybrané modely pro modelování chování uživatelů, modely s ohledem na soukromí a také představuje relevantní metody dolování dat. Ve čtvrté kapitole se zabýváme přípravou vstupních dat, která budou použita při profilování. Cílem našich experimentů je zjistit, do jakého rozsahu je možné provést re-identifikaci entit (typicky uživatelů), pokud máme pouze charakteristiku chování. Vlastní proces re-identifikace je popsán v kapitole pět, kde je podrobně popsána metoda vyhledávání podobných profilů chování. V této kapitole je také provedeno vyhodnocení navrhované metody pro tři hlavní protokoly (SSH, HTTP a HTTPS). Hlavním přínosem disertační práce je navržená metodologie pro zpracování kontextové informace, experimenty s reálnými daty a vyhodnocení navržené techniky pro vyhledávání podobných charakteristik chování.

Abstract:

This dissertation deals with information retrieval with respect to context information, focusing on user profiling and namely the issue of re-identification. Context information is very descriptive and user-dependant information that describes entity (typically user) behaviour within a system. This type of information is typically used for recommendation techniques in on-line services (services providing customized content). On the other hand, context information can be considered as a solid basis for retrieving sensitive information about individuals. Importance of privacy evaluation and assessment of contextual information that is associated with an individual is the most important issue in this dissertation. Dissertation thesis consists of five main parts. In the introductory part, global and our motivation for the importance of context information processing is introduced, as well as commonly used terminology and notions in this field. Second chapter is dedicated to context information processing, formal definitions of four privacy properties -- anonymity, unlinkability, unobservability and pseudonymity and the PATS model proposal. Third chapter is organized as a survey of selected user behaviour models, privacy models and data mining techniques. Fourth chapter presents some techniques used for input data preparation. This data is then used as input for the similarity searching phase. Our interest here is to discover to what extent an entity is re-identifiable if we have only its behavioural characteristics. This phase is described in chapter five, where we discuss the methodology for similarity searching (re-identification) as well as its evaluation. We provide results of the re-identification process for three main protocols (SSH, HTTP and HTTPS). The main contribution of this dissertation is a proposed methodology for context information processing, experiments with real data and evaluation of our similarity searching techniques.
