Methods of Network Analysis

Abstract:

V práci jsem se zajímala o dvě metody, CPM a PERT. Jedná se o metody, které se používají k naplánování nějakého projektu. Pomocí nich zjistíme, jak dlouho daný projekt bude trvat a jaká je kritická cesta v projektu. Abych tyto metody mohla popsat, musela jsem nejdříve vysvětlit pár pojmů z Teorie grafů nezbytné k vysvětlení síťového grafu, se kterým obě metody pracují. U metody CPM jsou doby trvání činností dány deterministicky. Metoda PERT je stochastická, takže jsem navíc musela použít statistiku. Metody CPM a PERT jsem následně popsala. V praktické části jsem tyto dvě metody aplikovala na jeden z možných příkladů z praxe. V poslední kapitole jsem vzala do úvahu také náklady spojené s projektem.

Abstract:

I was interested in two methods, CPM and PERT, in my thesis. Those methods are used to plan a project. By using the methods, we can determine the duration of the project and we can find a critical path of the project. First, I introduced some notions of graph theory because I need it to explain the concept of a network graph; that concept is used in both the methods. CPM works with deterministic durations of activities. PERT assumes stochastic durations of the activities; the method involves some methods of statistics. I explain elementary foundations of statistics in subsection 2.2.1. I present an example to demonstrate the application of the methods in real life. Finally, I consider costs connected with the completion of the project.
