Development of non-verbal communication using drama education methods for underprivileged children

Abstract:

Tato práce je rozdělena na dvě části, část teoretickou a část praktickou. V první kapitole teoretické části popisuji téma komunikace, její verbální a neverbální složku, rozdíl mezi těmito složkami, dále pak uvádím jednotlivé složky neverbální komunikace, význam neverbální komunikace ve společenském styku a také charakterizuji pojem komunikace činem. Druhá kapitola vysvětluje pojem dramatická výchova, její cíle a východiska, vztah procesu a produktu u dramatické výchovy a její metody a techniky. Třetí kapitola stručně popisuje pojmy sociální znevýhodnění a dětský domov a obsahuje podkapitolu s názvem Dramatická výchova a neverbální komunikace. Praktická část obsahuje charakteristiku zařízení, kde byl výzkum prováděn, popis výzkumné techniky pozorování, výsledky výzkumného šetření a metodiky, které byly při výzkumu vytvořeny. Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, zda se zlepší neverbální komunikace u dětí se sociálním znevýhodněním pomocí metod dramatické výchovy. Kvalitativní výzkum probíhal formou přímého pozorování dvou dětí z dětského domova v rámci roční intervence prostřednictvím metod dramatické výchovy při výzkumu Rozvoj sociálních kompetencí u dětí v riziku poruch chování pomocí metod dramatické výchovy.

Abstract:

This thesis consists of two parts; the theoretical and the practical. First comes the theoretical. In chapter one I describe communication, its verbal and non-verbal components and the difference between these two. I also present the individual components of non-verbal communication, the meaning of non-verbal communication in social interaction and describe the 'communication by action' concept. In the second chapter I explain the concept of drama education, its goals and outcomes, methods and techniques and the relation between the process and the product. In the third chapter I briefly describe the concepts of underpriviliged children and children's home and include a sub-chapter on drama education and non-verbal communication. The part of the thesis dealing with the practical comprises the description of the institution where the research was carried out, the description of the observation technique used for my research, the outcomes of my research and the methods developed during the research. The goal of my thesis is to determine whether the non-verbal communication of underpriviliged children can be improved by drama education methods. I carried out the qualitative research by directly observing two childern in the children's home for one year. This was part of a research project titled 'Development of social competencies of children at risk of behavioural disorders by drama education methods'.
