Differences in reading strategies between younger and older generation

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is to verify the differences in reading strategies between younger and older generation through eye-tracking technology. Specifically, the aim si to verify the risky reading strategy, which according to some researchers, the older generation adopts, while younger one prefers a more conservative stratégy. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part contains three chapters that discuss vision, reading and eye-tracking technology. The empirical part contains the research methodology, t is focused on the analysis of the obtained data from the eye-tracking measurement and the interpretation of these data.

Abstract:

Témou tejto diplomovej práce je overenie rozdielov v čitateľských stratégiách medzi mladšou a staršou generáciou prostredníctvom technológie eye-tracking. Konkrétnym cieľom je overenie riskantnej stratégie čítania, ktorú podľa niektorých výskumníkov staršia generácia prijíma, zatiaľ čo mladšia preferuje konzervatívnejšiu stratégiu. Diplomová práca je rozdelená na teoretickú a empirickú časť. Teoretická časť obsahuje tri kapitoly, ktoré pojednávajú o zraku, čítaní a technológii eye-tracking. Empirická časť obsahuje metodológiu výskumu, je zameraná na analýzu získaných dát z eye- trackingového merania a interpretáciu týchto dát.
