Burnout syndrome of teachers in kindergardens

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku syndromu vyhoření. Tato práce se skládá z teoretické části a z části výzkumné. První, teoretická část, je postavena na informacích z odborné literatury a výzkumů. Skládá se ze tří částí, kdy se první část věnuje fenoménu syndromu vyhoření, jeho popsání, kategorizaci i prevenci. Dále se také zaměřuje na stres jako významný faktor syndromu vyhoření. Druhá kapitola se zabývá profesí pedagoga a třetí sociální oporou. Část výzkumná probíhala dotazníkovou metodou. Výzkumného šetření se zúčastnilo 120 respondentů, kteří pracují v mateřských školách v Olomouckém a Moravskoslezském kraji. Výběrový soubor tvoří pouze ženy. Ke sběru dat byly použity tři dotazníky. První z nich byl vlastní konstrukce, druhým byl Maslach Burnout Inventory od Ch. Maslach a S. E. Jackson. Jako třetí byl použit dotazník Perceived Social Support Scale od J. Blumenthala. Následně byly výsledky zpracovány a vyjádřeny. V praktické části je uveden cíl práce, hypotézy, které jsou podloženy odbornou literaturou, a výzkumný vzorek. Následně je zde zpracovaná výzkumná metoda MBI a dotazník PSSS. V závěru praktické části je uvedeno vyhodnocení vlastního dotazníku, dotazníku MBI a PSSS, zároveň statistické testování hypotéz, doporučení pro praxi, diskuze a závěrečné zhodnocení. Z hlediska výsledků dosáhlo vysoké míry vyhoření v subškále EEI 35 % pedagogů, v subškále DPI pouze 9 % a v subškále PAI to bylo 14 %. Učitelé dosáhli poměrně vysokého průměrného skóru u dotazníku PSSS. Získaný průměr byl 75,78 bodu z celkových 84.

Abstract:

This MA thesis focuses on the topic of the burnout syndrome. This thesis consists of theoretical part and research. First part - the theoretical one - is based on professional literature and research in this field. It consists of three chapters. The first chapter deals with the phenomenon of the burnout syndrome, its description, categorization and prevention. Furthermore, it focuses on stress as a major factor of the burnout syndrome. The second chapter explores the occupation of a school teacher and the third discusses social support. The research was conducted via questionnaires. The total number of 120 respondents, who work in maternity schools in the Olomoucký and Moravskoslezský region, took part in the survey. The selected document consists of women only. Three different questionnaires were employed. The first one was created by the author of the thesis, the second one is Maslach Burnout Inventory by C. Maslach and S. E. Jackson, and the third questionnaire is Perceived Social Support Scale by J. Blumenthal. Subsequently, the results were processed and interpreted. In the practical part, the author stated the goal of the thesis and a hypothesis that is based on professional literature and research sample. Moreover, the MBI method and PSSS questionnaire are processed in this part. In conclusion of the practical part, there is an assessment of all the questionnaires - the one by the author, MBI and PSSS as well as statistical testing of author's hypothesis. Furthermore, there are practical recommendations, discussion and final evaluation. From the results, it may be stated that 35 % of school teachers reached high scores on the burnout EEI subscale, whereas on DPI subscale it was only 9 % and on the PAI subscale 14 %. The school teachers reached quite high scores in the PSSS questionnaire as well - on average 75.78 out of the total of 84 points.
