Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem tibetského odboje proti čínské okupaci. Na úvod ve stručnosti popisuje akt samotného obsazení Tibetu, podpis Sedmnáctibodové dohody a implementaci čínských "demokratizačních reforem" ve východním Tibetu, které vedly ke vzniku ozbrojeného odporu. Vyobrazuje rozšíření povstaleckého hnutí z východních provincií do celého Tibetu a jeho následné sjednocení do organizace Čhu-ži Gang-dug a vzniku Národní dobrovolnické obranné armády. Dále analyzuje okolnosti, které vedly USA k podpoře tibetských partyzánů a zahájení činnosti výcvikových středisek CIA pro Tibeťany. Mezitím se také věnuje lhaskému povstání v březnu 1959 a útěku dalajlamy do exilu. Posléze se práce zaměřuje na výsadky prvních dvou skupin tibetských agentů do Tibetu, na jejichž základě se vedení CIA rozhodlo o pokračování Tibetského programu. Další část se soustřeďuje na samotný výcvik tibetských povstalců v Camp Hale v Coloradu a na politické pozadí dvou přerušení fungování Tibetského programu. Následně práce zmiňuje čínsko-indickou válku, v jejímž důsledku vznikl Zvláštní pohraniční sbor složený z tibetských exulantů. Dále autorka píše o přesunu centra tibetského odboje z Tibetu do nepálského království Mustang a výpadech partyzánů na tibetské území. V závěru práce pak analyzuje rozpad guerillového hnutí v souvislosti změnou kurzu americké zahraniční politiky Richarda Nixona v roce 1969 a nástupem prince Biréndry na nepálský trůn.

Abstract:

The aim of the master thesis is to analyse the Tibetan resistance against the Chinese occupation. The opening chapter describes the Chinese taking control over Tibet, the signing of Seventeenpoint Agreement and implementation of 'democratization reforms', which resulted in armed resistance. The author depicts spreading of the uprising into the whole Tibet, the unification into the organization Chu-shi Gang-dug and the formation of Volunteer Freedom Fighters. The following part analyses the initiation of American involvement in Tibetan issue and the establishment of training camps of CIA. The author also focuses on Lhasa uprising in 1959 and Dalai Lama's fleeing into India. The master thesis portrays the first two drops of parachutes into Tibet, on the grounds of which it was decided about the continuation of the Tibetan Task Force. The author concentrates on training of insurgents in Camp Hale in Colorado and on two interruptions of Tibetan operations. The subsequent part mentions the sino-indian war and the foundation of Special Frontiers Force, which was comprised of Tibetans. The chapter describes the creation of the centre of resistance in Mustang kingdom in Nepal. The final part analyses the breaking up of the guerilla movement in connection with the change of foreign policy by Richard Nixon in 1969, and prince Birendra ascending the Nepalese throne.
