Effect of tyre inflation pressure and vehicle speed on braking distance and deceleration

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na hodnocení vlivu huštění pneumatik na brzdnou dráhu. V teoretické části je popsána brzdová soustava a faktory, které ji ovlivňují, konstrukce pneumatik a analýza sil valení. Dále jsou popsány způsoby měření brzdné dráhy a způsoby kontroly brzdné soustavy. Cílem praktické části je realizace měření brzdné dráhy v terénních podmínkách na rovném suchém povrchu při měnících se rychlostech i tlacích a následné vyhodnocení. Vyhodnocením bylo zjištěno, že díky typu povrchu, neměl tlak huštění pneumatik vliv na brzdnou dráhu. Hlavním faktorem, který měl vliv na brzdnou dráhu, byla rychlost vozidla. U zrychlení nebyly zjištěny statistické rozdíly pro různé tlaky huštění v rámci příslušné rychlosti. Dále bylo zjištěno, že při daném tlaku huštění nemá rozdílná rychlost vliv na zrychlení vozidla při brzdění.

Abstract:

The Masters thesis is focused on the evaluation of the influence of tire pressure on the braking distance. The theoretical part describes the braking system and the factors that affect it, tire design and force analysis. It provides overview of the methods of measuring and the methods of checking the braking system. The aim of the experimental part is to implement the measurement of the braking distance at different speeds and pressures in outside conditions and subsequent evaluation. The evaluation showed that due to the surface roughness, the tire pressure did not affect the braking distance. The main factor that affected the braking distance was the speed of the vehicle. no statistical differences were found for acceleration at different tire pressures, even at varying speeds. It has also been found that at a particular tire pressure, a different speed does not affect the deceleration of the vehicle during braking.
