Today’s society and the influence of ecological thinking on burial rites - a transcultural study

Abstract:

In this thesis we study the influence of ecological thinking on current burial rite in various countries. This thesis presents the philosophy of this kind of burial rite and compares it with conventional burial. Part of the work is devoted to the ecological alternatives of coffins and urns and also discusses the new ecological methods for treating the human body after death. This part is followed by the mapping of the ecological influence on burial rites in different countries, including the Czech Republic. The collected information suggests that ecological funerals are currently a matter of Western culture with a unique occurrence in other countries. Generally, it is increasingly growing trend.

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se věnujeme mapování vlivů ekologického způsobu myšlení na současný pohřební ritus v různých zemích světa. Tato práce přibližuje filozofii takto koncipovaných pohřebních ritů, které zároveň porovnává s klasickými pohřby. Část práce se věnuje i ekologickým alternativám rakví a uren a pojednává také o nových ekologických metodách nakládání s lidským tělem po smrti. Následuje zmapování ekologických vlivů na pohřební rity různých zemí, včetně České republiky. Ze získaných informací vyplývá, že ekologické pohřby jsou v současnosti záležitostí západní kultury s ojedinělým výskytem i v jiných zemích. Obecně se jedná o stále více se rozšiřující trend.
