The role of the central banks in the economic system during the last decade in developed economies - was the financial crisis inevitable?

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce primárně analyzuje situaci v oblasti centrálního bankovnictví v prvním desetiletí 21. století. Představuje teoretická východiska k měnové politice. Dává do kontrastu mainstreamový pohled na centrální banku jako etablovaného vykonavatele měnové politiky s ideami vycházejícími ze základů svobodného bankovnictví. Hlavní důraz je kladen na hledání příčin finanční krize a na schopnost centrálních bank se s finanční krizí vyrovnat. Výsledky analýzy konkrétních kroků centrálních bankéřů v době před a po krizi dávají odpovědi přesahující rámec zkoumaného desetiletí, jdou až k jádru a smyslu celého centrálního bankovnictví. Má práce dává centrálním bankéřům doporučení pro zvolení maximálně transparentního a závazného rámce chování, pak se může jejich politika stát důvěryhodnou a přispět tak k ekonomické prosperitě. Mnohem lepší a jednodušší cestu k tomuto cíli však vidím za předpokladu podmínek panujících v prostředí svobodného bankovnictví.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is primarily analysis of the situation in the field of central banking in the first decade of the 21. century. It represents the theoretical background into the monetary policy. It puts contrast on the central bank as executor and establisher of the monetary policy with the ideals coming out of free banking. The main emphasis is put on searching the reasons for the financial crisis as well as on the ability of the central bank to handl it. The analysis's results of specific actions of the central bankers during and before the crisis supply answers even beyond the analysed decade, it reaches the core and sense of the whole central banking system. My work recommends the central bankers to choose the most transparent and binding behaviour framework, only then their policy can become credible and contribute to the economic prosperity. Anyway, the easiest and the most suitable way how to achieve this goal is under the condition of the exsistance of free banking environment.
