Cybersecurity standarts in online payments

Abstract:

Práce zkoumá problematiku kybernetické bezpečnosti v kontextu internetových plateb. V teoretické části jsou nejprve popsány základní pojmy související s kybernetickou bezpečností, hrozbami a útoky. Následně je představena charakteristika online plateb, platebních bran, zabezpečení platebních bran a právní regulace v mezinárodním kontextu, Evropské unii a České republice. Hlavní část práce se zaměřuje na kybernetickou kriminalitu ve vztahu k internetovým platbám a zkoumá nejčastější druhy útoků na uživatele a finanční instituce. V praktické části je provedena analýza kybernetických útoků na společnosti Equifax a Capital One. Srovnáním těchto případů jsou identifkovány společné a rozdílné znaky útoků, význam těchto případů pro oblast internetových plateb a odvozena doporučení pro zlepšení kybernetické bezpečnosti. Práce tak přispívá k diskusi o současných hrozbách a výzvách v oblasti kybernetické bezpečnosti spojené s internetovými platbami a poskytuje návrhy řešení pro zlepšení ochrany citlivých dat a finančních transakcí v digitálním prostředí.

Abstract:

The thesis examines the issue of cyber security in the context of internet payments. The theoretical part first describes the basic concepts related to cyber security, threats and attacks. Then, the characteristics of online payments, payment gateways, payment gateway security and legal regulation in the international context, the European Union and the Czech Republic are presented. The main part of the thesis focuses on cybercrime in relation to online payments and examines the most common types of attacks on users and financial institutions. In the practical part, an analysis of cyber-attacks on Equifax and Capital One is conducted. By comparing these cases, the common and different features of the attacks are identified, the relevance of these cases to the internet payments industry, and recommendations for improving cybersecurity are derived. Thus, the thesis contributes to the discussion of current cybersecurity threats and challenges associated with internet payments and provides suggestions for solutions to improve the protection of sensitive data and financial transactions in the digital environment.
