Pious legacies in the testaments of the Olomouc burghers in the 16th century

Anotace:

Předmětem práce je analýza zbožných a charitativních legátů v testamentech olomouckých měšťanů v kontextu náboženských proměn v Olomouci v 16. století a otázka spojitosti konfesionalizace na úrovni městské politiky a konfesijní identity samotných měšťanů. Obyvatelé Olomouce se ve velké míře přiklonili k luterství a dostávali se do konfliktu s olomouckými biskupy a jejich rekatolizační politikou. Otázkou je, zda a jak se tato náboženská situace projevila v soukromé religiozitě měšťanů, jejímž ukazatelem jsou právě zbožné odkazy v jejich testamentech.

Abstract:

The subject of this thesis is the analysis if pious and charity legacies in the testaments of Olomouc burghers in the context of religious transformations in Olomouc in the 16th century and the question of relationship between confessionalisation at the level of the municipal policy and confessional identity of the burghers themselves. The people of Olomouc tended to Lutheranism and came into conflict with Olomouc bishops and their recatholisation. The question is, whether and how was this situation reflected in the private religiosity of the burghers, indicated of the pious bequests in their testaments.
