Adsorption and transport of alkanes in ZSM-5 and ZSM-5/35 zeolites by molecular simulations

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou molekulárních simulací krátkých alkanů v~ZSM-5 a ZSM-5/35 zeolitech, konkrétně jejich adsorpce a difuze. První část popisuje molekulární model, konkrétní modely alkanů a zeolitů a jejich vzájemnou interakci. Druhá část se věnuje zavedení pojmů adsorpce a difuze (a pojmů souvisejících), popisuje metody pro simulaci využité (metoda Monte Carlo a molekulární dynamiky) a také popisuje vlastní průběh simulace včetně využitých programů (towhee a LAMMPS). Poslední částí jsou výsledky a diskuze, kde je ilustrována validace modelu vůči experimentálním datům, zobrazeny adsorpční izotermy a vyhodnoceny difuzní koeficienty.

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with molecular simulations of short alkanes in ZSM-5 and ZSM-5/35 zeolites, namely their adsorption and diffusion. The first part describes the molecular model, specific models of alkanes and zeolites and their mutual interaction. The second part intends to introduce diffusion and adsorption (and related terms), describes the methods used for the simulations (Monte Carlo method and molecular dynamics) and also describes the course of the simulation, including the programs used (towhee and LAMMPS). The last part presents the results and discussion, where model validation is illustrated against experimental data, adsorption isotherms are displayed and diffusion coefficients are evaluated.
