This thesis addresses a gap in Ishmael Reed scholarship by describing and contextualising his use of satire. It examines the satire present in ten novels published between 1967 and 2011 against Leonard Feinberg’s taxonomy of satirical techniques to establish which satirical techniques are most frequently used and when.
