Emotional experiences affected by synesthesia.

Abstract:

Ve své práci se zabývám vlivem kongruentních a inkongruentních vjemů na emoční stav u synestetiků. Předpokládám, že setkání s inkongruentními vlivy, mohou synestetici prožívat jako nepříjemné a naopak. Pro ověření hypotéz jsem zvolila kvantitativní experimentální design, kterého se účastnilo 64 respondentů se synestézií, u které grafémy vyvolávají barvy. Signifikantní rozdíly mezi skupinami jsem nalezla u položky full of energy nástroje ESAT. Změny emočního stavu v subškálách smutek a veselí se projevily více u osob s intenzivnějšími synestetickými prožitky, naopak stres v tomto případě méně.

Abstract:

In my thesis I study the influence of congruent and incongruent perceptions on the emotional state of synaesthetes. I hypothesize that people with synaesthesia may experience encounters with incongruent influences as unpleasant and vice versa. To test the hypotheses, I chose a quantitative experimental design involving 64 respondents with synaesthesia in whom graphemes evoke colours. I found significant differences between groups on the item full of energy of the ESAT. Differences in emotional state on the sadness and cheerfulness subscales changed more for those with more intense synesthetic experiences, whereas stress changed less.
