Impacts of artificial differentiation on the medicines market

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci „Dopady umělé diferenciace na trhu s léčivy“ se věnuji rozboru současných právních rámců, které regulují přístup k lékům z hlediska regulátorů, nabídky a poptávky. Zejména se věnuji rozdílům mezi léky vázanými na předpis a volný prodej. Pokládám si otázku, zda je tento rozdíl umělý a jaký má vliv na účastníky trhu. Rozdíly analyzuji z hlediska regulací, odůvodnění těchto regulací, a rozborem, zda je v praxi dosaženo jejich cílů. Dalším výstupem je analýza chodu několika lékáren z hlediska jejich prodejů léků, a popis toho, jak díky regulacím důsledky koronavirových opatření dopadly jinak na prodeje léků na předpis a volný prodej.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis „Impacts of artificial differentiation on the medicines market“ concerns the analysis of current laws which regulate the access to medicine from the point of view of regulators, suppliers and consumers. Specifically, the difference between prescription and over-the-counter medicine is discussed. The questions are: whether this difference is artificial and what impact it has on the market. The differences are analysed through the lens of regulations, the justifications of these regulations and a discussion of whether they are effective. Another outcome of this thesis is an analysis of how several pharmacies are affected in their sales. The differences are further illustrated in how differently the coronavirus restrictions affected the sales of prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
