Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce Ukazatele chudoby je nalezení a popsání oficiálních ukazatelů chudoby, používaných ve světě. První část uvádí do problematiky chudoby, jejích existujících definic, dělení a vývoj v světě. Ve druhé části se zaměřuji na relativní ukazatele chudoby, přesněji na příjmovou hranici chudoby. Třetí část se zabývá absolutními ukazateli chudoby, a to konkrétně oficiální hranici chudoby v USA, hranici extrémní chudoby nastavovanou Světovou bankou, a Multidimensional Poverty Index. V poslední části ukazuji na příkladu Irska nevýhody příjmové hranice chudoby, a dále s pomocí dat o hranicích chudoby v USA ukazuji nedostatky oficiální hranice chudoby v USA.

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor thesis: “Poverty indicators” is to find and describe the official poverty indicators used around the world. The first part introduces the issue of poverty, its existing definitions, its classification and its development around the world. In the second part I focus on relative poverty indicators, more precisely on income poverty lines. The third part is concentrated on absolute poverty indicators, concretely the US official poverty threshold, the extreme poverty line set by the World Bank and lastly the Multidimensional Poverty Index. In the last part I demonstrate on an example of Ireland the disadvantages of income poverty lines and also with data about US poverty lines I demonstrate the shortcomings of the official poverty line in the US.
