Death, burial rite and rituals in Tibetan Buddhism

Abstract:

Práce, koncipovaná jako socio-kulturní analýza umírání, smrti, pohřebních ritů a rituálů v oblasti tibetského buddhismu, se soustředí na aspekty, které v rámci daného časového a geografického vymezení v užším smyslu souvisí se smrtí, umíráním, nesmrtelností, a na jejich variace v rámci tibetské společnosti. Dále se zabývá zvláštnostmi a danostmi pohřebního ritu zejména podle sociálního zařazení, pohlaví, věku a oblasti. Analyzuje chování a respektování norem náboženské tradice buddhismu v její konkrétní tibetské formě s důrazem na vstřebávání místních domorodých prvků.

Abstract:

The thesis is presented as sociocultural analysis of dying, death, burial rites and rituals in tibetan buddhism. Defined by existent period of time and geographical area, it´s focused on the aspects closely connected with dead, dying, immortality and their variations within tibetan society. It´s also concerned with standards and singularities of burial rite, especially in accordance with social status, gender, age and area. It interprets behaviour and authority of the standard religious tradition of buddhism in its concrete tibetan form, putting emphasis on the reception of local aboriginal elements.
