Ageism and a social status of seniors in a society

Abstract:

Ve své bakalářské práci jsem se zaměřila na problematiku ageismu ve stáří. Práce pojednává o sociálním postavení seniorů ve společnosti a o chování společnosti k osobám staršího věku z pohledu seniorů. Cílem práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem senioři vnímají život v důchodu, jaká stanoviska zaujímají k fenoménu ageismu a stáří obecně. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na vysvětlení základních pojmů problematiky, vztahu seniorů a společnosti v historii a dnes, specifika procesu stárnutí apod. Empirická část je založena na kvalitativním výzkumu – výzkumné šetření bylo realizováno pomocí hloubkových polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se seniory, přičemž tématem byl zejména život v důchodovém věku a vnímání postoje společnosti k seniorům. Data byla analyzována pomocí otevřeného kódování.

Abstract:

In my bachelor thesis I focused on the problems of ageism of old age. The work deals with a social status of old people in our society and with the behaviour of the society to the elders, both from the view of seniors. The goal of this work is to find out how do the seniors see a life in their old age, how do they perceive the ageism and old age generally. The work is divided into two parts. A theoretical part focuses on describing the basic concepts of the main issue, relations between the seniors and the society in a past and nowadays, specifics of a process of ageing etc. An empirical part is based on qualitative research which was realized using deep half structured interview with seniors. A theme of the interviews was especially the life in the old age and viewing of attitudes of society to seniors. The data were analysed using oped coding.
