An intradisciplinary perspective on cognitive abilities of professional esports players and football and ice hockey goalkeepers

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na komparaci vybraných kognitivních schopností profesionálních esportových hráčů, fotbalových brankářů, hokejových brankářů a kontrolní skupiny. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 20 probandů mužského pohlaví rozdělených do čtyř skupin. K měření byly využity dva diagnostické nástroje: SCITEP Aim Trainer zachycující rychlost vizuomotorické reakce v digitálním prostředí a systém BlazePod měřící reakčně-pohybový výkon v prostoru. Výsledky naznačují, že esportoví hráči dosahují nejkratšího reakčního času v digitálním testu, zatímco u hokejových brankářů byl pozorován nejlepší výkon v prostorové reakci. Rozdíly mezi skupinami nedosáhly statistické významnosti, přičemž limitací studie je především malý rozsah výběrového souboru.

Abstract:

This study focuses on comparing selected cognitive abilities of professional esports players, football goalkeepers, ice hockey goalkeepers, and a control group. The research sample consisted of 20 male participants divided into four groups. Two diagnostic tools were used: the SCITEP Aim Trainer, capturing the speed of visuomotor response in a digital environment, and the BlazePod system, measuring reactive-motor performance in physical space. The results suggest that esports players achieved the shortest reaction times in the digital test, while ice hockey goalkeepers showed the best performance in spatial reaction. Differences between groups did not reach statistical significance, with the primary limitation of the study being the small sample size.
