Guilds in Krnov and their impact on the industrialization of the town

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na zmapování a zhodnocení činnosti cechovních organizací v Krnově od středověku do roku 1859, tj. do doby, kdy došlo k jejich zrušeni na základě živnostenského zákona. Po nastínění právního rámce a obecných podmínek činnosti cechů v českých zemích bude hlavní pozornost věnována dějinám a fungování vybraných krnovských cechovních organizací a také jejich následnému vlivu na pozdnější industrializaci města. Této problematice se literatura předmětu dosud věnovala jen okrajově. Práce vychází především z archivních pramenů, odborné literatury a také z dochovaných hmotných památek zejména sfragistického charakteru. Při výzkumu budou využity standardní metody historického výzkumu (mj.analýza, kritika a interpretace archivních pramenů).

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the mapping and evaluation of the activities of guild organizations in Krnov from the Middle Ages until 1859, i.e. until the time when they were abolished on the basis of the Trade Licensing Act. After outlining the legal framework and general conditions of guilds in the Czech lands, the main focus will be on the history and functioning of selected guilds in Krnov and their subsequent influence on the later industrialisation of the town. The literature of the subject has so far only marginally dealt with this issue. The thesis is based mainly on archival sources, specialist literature and also on preserved material monuments, especially of a sphragistic nature. Standard methods of historical research (including analysis, criticism and interpretation of archival sources) will be used in the research.
