Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the causative agent of gonorrhea, which is the second most prevalent sexually transmitted infection worldwide. Gonorrhea is a serious public health problem due to its propensity to develop resistance to all clinically used antibiotics. Neisseria gonorrhoeae je původcem kapavky, která je druhou nejčastěji se vyskytující pohlavně přenosnou infekcí na celém světě. Díky sklonu tohoto patogénu vyvíjet rezistenci vůči všem klinicky používaným antibiotikům představuje kapavka vážný problém veřejného zdraví.
