The role of silk in the construction of egg sacs and the protection of eggs in kleptoparasitic spider genus Argyrodes Simon, 1864 (Araneae: Therdiidae).

Abstract:

V letech 2020-2021 byla na základě zadání prostudována a popsána makrostruktura a ultrastruktura kokonů kleptoparazitického druhu Argyrodes argyrodes (Walckenaer, 1841), který žije v sítích hostitelských křižáků Cyrtophora citricola (Forskal, 1757). Bylo vyhodnoceno chování pavouků druhu A. argyrodes a objasněna odpověď na otázku, zda mají kokony nějaké další funkce, mimo té hlavní a původní, kterou je nepochybně ochrana vajíček a mláďat. Tato bakalářská práce přináší zjištění, že kokony slouží rovněž jako rezervoáry potravy pro čerstvě vylíhnutá mláďata, jelikož dospělé samice aktivně zapřádají do stěn svých kokonů kořist, která často následně funguje jako prvotní zdroj potravy pro mláďata a mnohdy se z nich stává i alternativní zdroj potravy pro dospělé jedince obou pohlaví.

Abstract:

On the basis of the statement, in the years of 2020-2021 the macrostructure and ultrastructure of egg sacs produced by the kleptoparasitic spider Argyrodes argyrodes (Walckenaer, 1841), which lives in the webs of host orb-weaver spiders Cyrtophora citricola (Forskal, 1757), was studied and described. Behavior of the species A. argyrodes was evaluated and also the question if egg sacs have other functions, except the main one which is undoubtedly protection of eggs and younglings, was clarified. While working on the thesis it was found out that egg sacs are also used as reservoirs of nourishment for newly hatched younglings as adult female spiders tangle a prey in the sides of their egg sacs which is often the primary source of nourishment for younglings or it is also frequently used as alternative food for both female and male adults.
