Primary prevention of violence against women

Abstract:

Násilí na ženách je celospolečenským problémem vyskytujícím se v různé míře po celém světě. Práce se proto zabývá způsoby, jakými lze tomuto jevu předcházet, tedy primární prevencí násilí na ženách. Cílem práce je v analyzovaných programech primární prevence násilí na ženách zjistit, jakým způsobem se v nich primární prevence uskutečňuje. Práce se nejprve soustředí na objasnění pojmu násilí na ženách, jeho formy a na teoretické přístupy vysvětlující vznik tohoto fenoménu. Poté se zabývá příčinami násilí na ženách a genderovými stereotypy a jejich reprodukcí. Dále pak vysvětluje koncepty prevence a genderově senzitivní přístup a popisuje, jakým způsobem se realizuje primární prevence násilí na ženách v České republice. Poslední část práce se věnuje obsahové analýze programů primární prevence, pomocí které se snažím odhalit, zda mnou vyhledané programy opravdu usilují o odstranění příčin násilí na ženách nebo se jen zaměřují na snížení rizik vzniku tohoto jevu. Obsahová analýza zkoumaného materiálu potvrdila, že násilí na ženách lze opravdu předcházet, a že existují efektivní programy primární prevence, které skutečně odstraňují příčiny násilí páchaného na ženách.

Abstract:

Violence against women is a social problem occurring in different scales all over the world. This thesis focuses on methods of violence prevention, i.e. primary prevention of violence against women. The main objective of the thesis is to identify the means of violence prevention that are used in the analyzed programs of primary prevention of violence against women. First of all, the thesis deals with the research of forms of violence against women, the theoretical approaches explaining the origin of this phenomenon, and the explanation of the term itself. Subsequently, it explains the concepts of gender-sensitive approach and prevention and describes which methods of primary prevention of violence against women are implemented in the Czech Republic. The last part of the thesis deals with an analysis of the content of primary prevention programs, which serve the purpose of revealing, whether the programs listed by me do really attempt to eliminate the motives of violence against women, or they only focus on lowering the risks of occurrance of this phenomenon. The analysis of the content proved that violence against women can be prevented and that there are effective programs of primary prevention, which do eliminate the sources of violence against women.
