Education and development of people with Alzheimer’s disease using ICT

Abstract:

Disertační práce na téma Edukace a rozvoj osob s Alzheimerovou chorobou pomocí ICT se zabývá osobami, které trpí Alzheimerovou chorobou lehkého či středního typu a jsou trvale umístění v zařízeních poskytující sociální služby. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na popis pomáhajících profesí a na popis samotné Alzheimerovy choroby spolu s možnostmi, které lze u této diagnózy aplikovat. Celkový výzkum byl realizovaný od počátku roku 2017 do srpna roku 2018. Výzkumný projekt A, který byl realizován v rámci rigorózní práce, trval 6 měsíců. Při výzkumu byla navázána spolupráce se 40 probandy, z toho 20 bylo v experimentální skupině (aktivní účast na intervenci) a 20 bylo ve skupině kontrolní (pasivní účast na intervenci). Tito probandi v obou skupinách následně byli rozděleni po 10 probandech, dle typu demence (lehká a střední). U této skupiny byla provedena vstupní, kontrolní a výstupní testování, která nám zajistila data k následné komparaci, které zde prezentujeme. Výzkumný projekt B šel hlouběji do zkoumané problematiky, kde jsme využili celkem 8 probandů, z toho 4 byli součástí experimentální skupiny a 4 součástí kontrolní. Následně tyto skupiny byly rozděleny po 2 probandech dle typu demence. Za využití metody single case research design, jsme mohli získat více dat z jednotlivých měsíců, což nám umožnilo lépe zmapovat rozvoj kognitivních funkcí u vybraných probandů. Intervence u experimentální skupiny byla rozložena na 3x týdně, tedy pondělí, středa a pátek. Následné testování bylo realizováno vždy poslední neděli daného měsíce. U kontrolní skupiny k intervenci nedocházelo. Realizovali jsme pouze testování, které bylo stejně jako u skupiny experimentální naplánováno vždy na poslední neděli v měsíci. Výsledky z obou projektů poukazují na fakt, že probandi, kteří se naší intervence aktivně účastnili, dosahují mírně lepších výsledků v porovnání s probandy, kteří se naší intervence neúčastnili. Ti dosahovali stagnace v bodovém hodnocení, nebo mírného poklesu. V diskusi a závěru disertační práce pak shrnujeme celkové poznatky, které jsme během našeho působení u této skupiny probandů získali. Nechybí také formulace závěrů pro praxi.

Abstract:

The dissertation on Education and Development of People with Alzheimer's Disease through ICT deals with persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease of a mild or moderate type and who are permanently placed in social service facilities. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the description of helping professions and on the description of Alzheimer's disease itself, along with the possibilities that can be applied to this diagnosis. The overall research was carried out from the beginning of 2017 to August 2018. The research project A, which was carried out as part of the rigorous work, lasted 6 months. The research involved cooperation with 40 probands, of which 20 were in the experimental group (active participation in the intervention) and 20 were in the control group (passive participation in the intervention). These probands in both groups were then divided into 10 probands, depending on the type of dementia (light and medium). In this group by the input, output and control of testing, which provide us with the data for subsequent comparison, we present here. Research project B went deeper into the studied issue, where we used a total of 8 probands, of which 4 were part of the experimental group and 4 controlling parts. Subsequently, these groups were divided into 2 probands depending on the type of dementia. Using the single case research design method, we could get more data from individual months, which allowed us to better map the development of cognitive functions in selected probands. Interventions in the experimental group were spread three times a week, ie Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Subsequent testing was performed on the last Sunday of the month. The control group did not intervene. We only performed testing that was the same as for the experimental group always scheduled for the last Sunday of the month. The results from both projects point to the fact that probands who actively participated in our interventions have slightly better results than those who did not participate in our interventions. Those achieved stagnation in the spot rating, or a slight decline. In the discussion and conclusion of the dissertation summarizes the overall findings, we made during our activity in this group of subjects received. There is also the formulation of conclusions for practice.
