The picture of Leonardo da Vinci in the literature

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je porovnat beletristická díla a pokusit se ukázat literární obraz Leonarda da Vinci, který nám povstane. Rozebírám vybraná literární díla a obracím se k životopisným dílům a autentickým záznamům. Děl, kde je Leonardo stěžejní postavou, je skutečně mnoho. Pro svou práci jsem zvolila díla těchto autorů D. Merežkovskij, E. Murányi-Kovács, L. Weismantel, D. Sinn, P.J. McAuley, D. Brown, J. Sierra a Ch. Grey. Práci jsem rozdělila na dvě části. Nejprve se snažím stručně popsat život tohoto umělce. Zaznamenat především fakta, která jsou nejčastěji v zájmu spisovatelů. Zmínila jsem i některé oblasti zájmu, například zájem o létání, anatomii a vědu. To vše je promítnuto v první části pod názvem ?Život Leonarda da Vinci?. Ve druhé části ?Obraz Leonarda da Vinci? vedle sebe stavím literární obraz Leonarda a Leonarda takového, jak ho přibližují jeho životopisci.

Abstract:

Leonardo da Vinci was in his lifetime primarily known as an excellent artist, but according to his own notes, he regarded himself mostly as a scientist and engineer. This diploma theses deals with the picture of Leonardo da Vinci in the literature. I would like to compare selected novels and to demonstrate the most common events of Leonardo?s life which might help us to build a clear picture of the lifetime of one of the most innovative artist and scientist. The thesis has been split into two basic parts. At first, there is a brief description of Leonard?s life. The particular events are captured, which are often reflected in novels. There is really many of available novels, so that?s why I have chosen just a couple of them to try to make a comparison between the picture that appears in novels and the real world facts. The novels written by following authors have been analyzed: Merežkovskij D. E. Murányi-Kovács, L. Weismantel, D. Sinn, PJ McAuley, D. Brown and Grey Ch.
