Pharmacologically important steroidal saponins in plants

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o steroidních saponinech, které jsou sekundárními metabolity rostlin. Teoretická část se věnuje shrnutí informací o struktuře, biosyntéze, výskytu a biologické aktivitě steroidních saponinů a také o jejich stanovení v rostlinném materiálu. Dále je v práci popsán kotvičník zemní (Tribulus terrestris), známý svým obsahem steroidních saponinů. Experimentální část práce se zabývá optimalizací izolace, purifikace a kvantifikace vybraných steroidních saponinů z rostlinného materiálu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with steroidal saponins which are secondary metabolites of plants. The theoretical part is a summary of information about the structure, biosynthesis, occurrence and biological activity of steroidal saponins and also about their determination in plant material. The work also describes the ground anchor (Tribulus terrestris), known for its content of steroidal saponins. The experimental part deals with the optimization of isolation, purification and quantification of selected steroidal saponins from plant material.
