The Influence of Mass Media on the Decisions of Judge

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá projevy soudců v masových médiích. Autorka se nejprve zaměřuje na teoretické vymezení základních hodnot soudnictví, jako je nezávislost, nestrannost či transparentnost a také definici základních pojmů vztahujícím se k masovým médiím. Dále pak člení projevy soudců do tematických kategorií a zkoumá jejich přínosy a rizika. Poslední část práce je věnována představení regulace projevů soudců v masových médiích v několika státech a jejich srovnání se stavem v České republice.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with speeches of judges in mass media. First the author focuses on the theoretical definition of fundamental values of the judiciary including independence, impartiality or transparency, as well as the definition of basic terms of mass media. Next the author divides judicial speeches into thematic categories and examines their benefits and risks. The last part of the thesis is devoted to presentation of regulation of judges' speeches in mass media in several countries and to their comparison with the situation in the Czech Republic.
