Ivan Buraj's and Matěj Nytra's stage version of Hermann Broch's novel trilogy The Sleepwalkers

Abstract:

The main focus of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of the theater performance The Sleepwalkers (imitation and suspicion) in comparison with the novel trilogy of the same name. This loose interpretation of a key novel of the 20th century is meant to warn against the decay of values not only in Broch's time, but also in our present, and to confront the audience with a situation in which the theme of values from Broch's scenes on stage unexpectedly spills over into the situation of the performance team and its audience.

Abstract:

Hlavnou náplňou tejto bakalárskej práce je analýza divadelného predstavenia Náměsíčníci (imitace a tušení) v porovnaní s rovnomennou románovou trilógiou. Toto voľné spracovanie kľúčového románu 20. storočia má varovať pred rozpadom hodnôt nielen v dobe Brochovej, ale aj v našej súčasnosti a konfrontovať diváka so situáciou, kedy sa téma hodnôt z brochovských scén na javisku nečakane zaleje aj do situácie inscenačného teamu a jeho publika.
