Abstract:

V uplynulých čtyřiceti letech se zpracování textu pomocí počítačů rozvinulo z dokumentů o několika tisících slovech do elektronických databází s miliardami slov. Mimo jiné z tohoto důvodu jsou velmi důležité efektivní systémy pro shromažďování, ukládání, editaci, zpřístupnění a zpracování různých informací o jazycích. Jazykové a znalostní zdroje (např. ontologie, sémantické sítě nebo slovníky) slouží nejen koncovým uživatelům, ale také poskytují důležité informace pro automatizované zpracování v oblastech zpracování přirozeného jazyka nebo zpracování znalostí. Například ontologie a sémantické sítě se používají v aplikacích pro vyhledávání informací, slovníky a lexikální databáze rozšiřují technologie pro zjednoznačnění lexikálního významu. Tato disertační práce analyzuje aktuální metody a nástroje pro tvorbu, správu a sdílení znalostních a jazykových zdrojů. Na základě analýzy autor navrhl a vyvinul novou lexikografickou platformu, Dictionary Editor and Browser (DEB), která splňuje všechny požadavky na potřebné vlastnosti pro tvorbu a použitelnost zdrojových dat. Práce obsahuje popis samotné platformy a také devíti vybraných softwarových projektů, které autor implementoval na základě popsané platformy a které demonstrují různé mezioborové přesahy, např. filtrování a slučování rozsáhlých zdrojových dat, rozsáhlé využití multimédií ve slovníku znakového jazyka, nebo podporu pro vícejazyčný systém detekce znalostí. Všechny představené projekty používají na mezinárodní úrovni výzkumných a akademické týmy ve více než 10 zemích. Disertační práce také obsahuje zhodnocení nasazení a využití platformy v aplikacích a výzkumných projektech.

Abstract:

In the past forty years, text processing by computer has developed from documents of a few thousand words to electronic databases of several billion words. For this reason among others, an effective system for compiling, storing, editing, accessing, and processing many different sorts of information about the language is of great practical importance. Knowledge and language resources (e.g. ontologies, semantic networks, and dictionaries) not only serve end users, but also provide a valuable background information layer in the field of natural language processing or knowledge engineering. For example, ontologies and semantic networks are used in information retrieval applications, while dictionaries and lexical databases enhance word-sense disambiguation techniques. This thesis analyses the current methods and tools for creation, management, and sharing of knowledge resources. Based on the analysis, a new lexicographic platform, named Dictionary Editor and Browser or DEB platform, has been designed and developed by the thesis author, taking into account all the features needed for resource creation and usability. In addition to the description of the platform itself, the thesis also presents details of nine software projects implemented by the thesis author during the past 8 years of the platform development, that are build using the platform, demonstrating various multi-disciplinary overlaps -- e.g. filtering and combining big data resources, heavy multimedia use for the dictionary of sign language, or supporting multi-lingual knowledge detection system. All the presented projects have already been applied internationally in various research and study tasks solved by teams in more than 10 countries. Evaluation of the platform deployment and usage in practical applications and research projects is also provided in the thesis.
