The Lednice – Valtice Area: The Artificial Naturalness

Abstract:

Lednicko – valtický areál je jedna z turisticky nejnavštěvovanějších památek ve střední Evropě. Celý areál je natolik zvláštní místo, že je nemožné chápat jej jen jako pěknou krajinu s roztroušenými letohrádky a rybníky. Je to krajina, kterou už zhruba 400 let systematicky mění a upravuje člověk svými tendencemi a plány, přesto je to stále přírodní a přirozený celek. Tato zvláštnost byla nakonec i nepřímo zúročena v roce 1996 zápis této památkové zóny na seznam UNESCO. Statě této práce se zabývají nejklíčovějšími změnami ve vývoji této lokality a zasazuje je do historických souvislostí.

Abstract:

The Lednice – Valtice Area is one of (nebo: belongs to) the most visited landmarks in the middle Europe. The whole area is such a unique place that it cannot be understood just as a beautiful countryside with lots of follies and ponds. It is a landscape that has been undergoing adjustments made (nebo: has been being adjusted) by man and his plans for nearly 400 years, but it is still a natural complex. Its specialty/uniqueness was acknowledged in 1996 by entering into the UNESCO World Heritage List. My thesis deals with the most important changes in the development of this area and describes them in historical context.
