Euroization in selected countries of CEE from 2009 to 2022

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je analyzovat měnovou substituci v Polsku, České republice, Maďarsku, Bulharsku a Rumunsku v letech 2009—2022. V teoretické části jsou představeny vedoucí ekonomické teorie týkající se měnové substituce, stejně jako kvalitativní popis vývoje měnové substituce během pozorovaného období. V empirické části je navrhnut ekonometrický model, který analyzuje vliv úrokových sazeb a dalších makroekonomických veličin na měnovou substituci. Výsledky práce naznačují, že domácí úrokové sazby mají vliv pouze na cizoměnové úvěry firem, přičemž sazby Evropské centrální banky mají statisticky významný vliv na všechny vysvětlované proměnné.

Abstract:

The main aim of this thesis is to analyse currency substitution in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Romania from 2009 to 2022. In the theoretical part, leading economic theories regarding currency substitution are introduced, along with a qualitative description of how the situation unfolded during the observed period. In the empirical part, an econometric model is constructed. Its aim is to analyse the relationship between interest rates, as well as other relevant macroeconomic variables, and currency substitution. Results suggest that domestic interest rates only influence companies’ foreign currency loans, while the rates of European Central Bank have statistically significant impact on all dependent variables.
