Prevention of conflict situations in working with people with mental illness

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o problematice konfliktních situací na pracovištích zdravotně sociálních pracovníků působících v psychiatrických zařízeních. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny následující pojmy: klient, duševní onemocnění, psychiatrická zařízení, zdravotně sociální pracovník, konfliktní situace, prevence a vnímání. Tyto pojmy souvisí s hlavní výzkumnou otázkou, která zní: „Jak vnímají zdravotně sociální pracovníci v psychiatrických zařízeních problematiku prevence vzniku konfliktních situací s pacienty a jejich rodinnými příslušníky? Výzkum je založen na kvantitativní výzkumné strategii v kombinaci se strategií kvalitativní. Sběr dat probíhal metodou dotazníkového šetření, které bylo zasláno zdravotně sociálním pracovníkům působícím v psychiatrických zařízeních. Získaná data jsou interpretována pomocí grafického znázornění s návazností na dílčí výzkumné otázky a hlavními poznatky jsou zjištění, že výskyt konfliktních situací je častý a prevence vzniku konfliktů není dostatečná. Odpovědí na hlavní výzkumnou otázku je tedy to, že zdravotně sociální pracovníci vnímají problematiku konfliktních situací jako aktuální, důležitou a pociťují nutnost jejího zlepšení, které podle nich spočívá především v hlubším a intenzivnějším vzdělávání v oblastech, které jim usnadní a pomohou těmto konfliktním situacím lépe předcházet, případně je snáze a s větší efektivitou řešit, a dále v odstranění různých příčin a faktorů, které vznik těchto situací ovlivňují. V závěru práce je připojeno doporučení pro praxi a návrh dalšího výzkumu.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of conflict situations in the workplace of health social workers operating in psychiatric facilities. In the theoretical part are defined the following terms: client, mental illness, psychiatric facilities, health social worker, conflict situations, prevention and perception. These terms are related to the main research question which is: "How do health social workers perceive the procedures prevention of conflict situations with clients and their family members in psychiatric facilities?". The research is based on quantitative research strategy in combination with qualitative strategy. Data were collected by questionnaires that were sent to health social workers operating in psychiatric facilities. Received data are interpreted by graphical representations in connection with the particular research questions and the main findings are that the incidence of conflict situations is often and conflict prevention is not enough. The answer to the main question is that health social workers perceive the problem of conflict situations such as the current, important and feel the need to improve it which according to them is mainly in a deeper and more intensive training in areas that will facilitate and help them in better prevent conflict situations or is easier and more efficiently to solve them and the removal of various causes and factors which influence the occurrence of these situations. There is the recommendation attached for practice and further research suggestions in conclusion of this thesis.
