The Development of Mining Activities in the Pribram Region in 19th and 20th Century and their Environmental Impact

Abstract:

Diplomová práce studuje dopady rudného a uranového hornictví na životní prostředí Příbramska v 19. a 20. století. Cílem práce bylo zdokumentovat rozsah škod na životním prostředí způsobených hornickou činností a popsat způsob jejich likvidace. Práce je rozdělena do dvou základních částí. První teoretická část podává charakteristiku příbramského regionu z hlediska přírodních podmínek a historického vývoje regionu, na kterou navazuje přehled nerostných surovin na Příbramsku. V druhé části, která vychází z výzkumu lokality, jsou popsány konkrétní příklady environmentálních dopadů hornické činnosti na životní prostředí zkoumaného území. V závěru práce je zhodnocena míra zatížení regionu hornickou činností.

Abstract:

This Diploma work studies the impact of mining of ore and uranium raw materials on the environment of the Pribram region in the 19th and 20th century. The goal of the work was to document the extent of damages to the evnironment caused by mining and to describe the way of their liquidation. The Diploma Work is divided into two main parts. The first theoretical part gives a general characteristics of the investigated region from the point of view of its natural conditions and history of its settlement followed by the outline of the development of mining activities in the Pribram region. In the second part, which is based on a research of the region, there are described concerete examples of environmental effects of mining in the investigated area. In the conclusion, a rate of damages to the environment caused by mining in the Pribram region is evaluated.
