Blockade of Qatar by the GCC and Egypt between 2014-2021v

Abstract:

V bakalárskej práci sa venujem podrobnému preskúmaniu a objasneniu udalostí a okolností, ktoré viedli Saudskú Arábiu, Bahrajn, Spojené arabské emiráty a Egypt k uvaleniu blokády na Katar medzi rokmi 2017-2021. Práca je rozdelená do troch častí. V prvej časti sa venujem opisu pojmov a teórií, ktoré vysvetľujú správanie sa štátov v medzinárodnom prostredí, a ich aplikácii na konkrétne prejavy zahraničnej politiky Kataru. V druhej časti práce rozoberám 5 sporných bodov politiky Kataru, ktoré boli dôvodom vyvolania blokády, a nakoniec v tretej časti sa venujem udalostiam, ktoré formovala katarská zahraničná politika. V súčinnosti s výskumným zámerom práce analyzujem jednotlivé prvky v politike Kataru a odhaľujem ich podiel na vzniku blokády. V závere práce zhodnocujem jej prínos pre štúdium politického prostredia na Blízkom východe, ako aj pre môj osobný záujem a pre potenciálne podrobnejšie štúdium danej problematiky v budúcnosti.

Abstract:

In my bachelor's thesis, I am devoted to a detailed examination and clarification of the events and circumstances that led Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt to impose a blockade on Qatar between 2017-2021. The work is divided into three parts. In the first part, I am devoted to the description of concepts and theories that explain the behavior of states in the international environment, and their application to specific manifestations of Qatar's foreign policy. In the second part of the thesis, I discuss 5 controversial points of Qatar's policy, which were the reason for the blockade, and finally, in the third part, I deal with the events that shaped Qatar's foreign policy. In cooperation with the research objective of the work, I analyze individual elements in the politics of Qatar and reveal their contribution to the creation of the blockade. At the end of the thesis, I evaluate its contribution to the study of the political environment in the Middle East, as well as for my personal interest and for a potentially more detailed study of the issue in the future.
