Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématy života a smrti ve hře Williama Shakespeara Tragický příběh dánského prince Hamleta, jež jsou v práci reprezentovány Freudovými koncepty Eros a Thanatos. Cílem práce je analyzovat všechny postavy ze hry, které jsou pro dané téma jakkoli relevantní (jmenovitě Hamlet, Claudius, Gertrude, Ophelia a Laertes), a zjistit, v jakém vzájemném vztahu se ony dva principy objevují. Součástí práce je také poskytnutí jistého teoretického základu pro dané téma. Hlavním záměrem je vyhodnotit, zda-li je mezi všemi zmiňovanými postavami v daném tématu nějaká spojitost, z níž by se dal vyvodit určitý komplexní závěr.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the themes of life and death in William Shakespeare’s play The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, represented by the Freudian concepts Eros and Thanatos. The aim of the thesis is to analyze all characters from the play who hold any relevance to the topic (namely Hamlet, Claudius, Gertrude, Ophelia, and Laertes), and determine the relation between the two instincts within each of these characters, while also providing some theoretical background on the subject. The objective is to assess whether there is any common ground shared among all the characters mentioned from which we could deduce a comprehensive theory on the subject.
