Analysis and design of Business Intelligence applications in water management companies

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je návrh a realizace pilotní Business Intelligence aplikace pro vybranou vodárenskou společnost Voda Červený Kostelec s.r.o. a k tomu důkladné vypracování standardní a specifické analýzy podnikového řízení. Není možné dosáhnout hlavního cíle bez dílčích cílů. Proto se první dílčí cíl zabývá problematikou a charakteristikou ekonomiky ve vodárenských společnostech a dále stavem, vývojem a legislativou těchto společností. Druhým dílčím cílem je velmi podrobná a hloubková analýza vybrané vodárenské společnosti. První část druhého dílčího cíle se zaobírá obecnější analýzou, která je velmi podobná i jiným společnostem v tomto odvětví. Druhá část se ale specializuje konkrétně na vodárenské společnosti a zejména na společnost Voda Červený Kostelec s.r.o. Zde autor naprostou většinu informací získal z řízených rozhovorů s jednatelem společnosti Voda Červený Kostelec s.r.o., jednatelem společnosti Datainfo s.r.o. a jejich obchodním zástupcem. Celkový výstup bakalářské práce obsahuje teoretický popis oblastí řízení typických pro vodárenské společnosti včetně popisu dle metodiky MBI a pilotní řešení BI aplikace pro vybranou oblast řízení.

Abstract:

The main objective of the bachelor thesis is the design and implementation of a pilot Business Intelligence application for a selected water management company Voda Červený Kostelec s.r.o. and a thorough elaboration of a standard and specific analysis of business management. It is not possible to achieve the main objective without sub-objectives. Therefore, the first sub-objective deals with the issues and characteristics of economics in water management companies and the status, development and legislation of these companies. The second sub-objective is a very detailed and in-depth analysis of a selected water company. The first part of the second sub-objective deals with a more general analysis which is very similar to other companies in this sector. However, the second part specialises specifically on water management companies and in particular on Voda Červený Kostelec s.r.o. Here the author obtained the vast majority of information from guided interviews with the managing director of Voda Červený Kostelec s.r.o., the managing director of Datainfo s.r.o. and their sales representative. The overall output of the bachelor thesis contains a theoretical description of management areas typical for water companies including a description according to the MBI methodology and a pilot BI application solution for the selected management area.
