Ancient Greek Verbs with a Double Augment
Abstract:
Bakalářská práce se zabývá otázkou vzniku a fungování specifického typu dvouaugmentových sloves ve staré řečtině. Nejdříve si popíšeme fungování augmentu v řečtině jako takového, dále si ukážeme jeho analogie v jiných indoevropských jazycích a nakonec si popíšeme právě slovesa s dvojím augmentem, ukážeme si, že jsou dvou typů různého původu a popíšeme motivaci a mechanismus jejich vzniku.

The bachelor thesis deals with the question of the origin and function of a specific type of verbs with two augments in Ancient Greek. First, we will describe the function of the augment in Greek as such, then we will show its analogies in other Indo-European languages, and finally we will describe the verbs with double augment, showing that they are of two types of different origins and describing …more
