Abstract:

Tato práce se soustředí na analýzu výzkumu, ve kterém bylo testováno více než šedesát studentů Gymnázia Český Brod, Vítězná 616. Cílem výzkumu bylo identifikovat nejobtížnější aspekty anglického jazyka pro tyto studenty. Výzkum byl rozdělen na několik testů a byl prováděn ve čtyřech třídách v období šesti týdnů. Výsledky ukázaly, že testovaní žáci měli problémy s některými gramatickými aspekty jazyka jako například s frázovými slovesy, přivlastňovacími podstatnými jmény, kvantifikátory a pokročilými prvky anglického jazyka. Učení se slovní zásoby nebylo pro studenty obtížné, ale udržení této slovní zásoby se ukázalo být větším problémem. Testované subjekty také neměly žádné zásadní problémy s porozuměním textu nebo mluvnému slovu. Otázky a úlohy založené na kontextu byly pro žáky nejobtížnější. Nebyli schopni v textech rozpoznat drobné rozdíly, které změnily významy některých vět. Výzkum navíc ukázal, že studenti, kteří jsou dobře obeznámeni s tématikou historie a kultury anglofonních zemí, nebyli vždy lepší, než studenti, kteří těmito znalostmi nedisponovali.

Abstract:

This work focuses on the analysis of the research which was conducted on over sixty grammar school students at Gymnázium Český Brod, Vítězná 616. The aim of the research was to identify the most difficult aspects of the English language for these students and it was divided into several tests. This research was done on four classes during the period of six weeks. The results showed that the test takers had difficulties with some grammatical aspects such as phrasal verbs, possessive nouns, quantifiers and determiners and more advanced aspects of the English language. Vocabulary learning was not problematic for the subjects, yet maintaining the vocabulary posed a slight problem. The test takers did not have any major issues with reading comprehension test or listening comprehension test. Context based questions and assignments were the major difficulty for the testees. They were unable to perceive slight differences in texts which changed the meanings of some utterances. In addition, the research showed that the students who were well-familiar with history and culture of Anglophone countries were not always better than the students who were not familiar with these features.
